Founded in 1852, Price, Postel & Parma LLP is recognized to be Santa Barbara’s oldest continuous business and California’s oldest law firm. For over 165 years, the firm’s attorneys have played a conspicuous role in the history and shaping of Santa Barbara, a tradition which began with the firm’s founder, Judge Charles Fernald. Judge Fernald came to California in 1849 looking for gold; but instead of striking it rich, he became the sheriff of Santa Barbara and led the effort to clean up the rambunctious frontier town. Fernald later served as district attorney, county judge and mayor of Santa Barbara, all the while maintaining a busy law practice and fostering numerous local charities. The firm’s attorneys have carried on this strong tradition of public service and continue to play leading roles in civic organizations dedicated to the improvement of Santa Barbara and the Central Coast.

Today the firm is a leader in each of its practice areas. Our success is the result of the quality of our attorneys. Outstanding client service is a cornerstone of our practice that has withstood the test of time.
