On February 21, 2017, Craig Parton spoke on the newly enacted Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (“SGMA”) at a conference in Bakersfield sponsored by the American Ground Water Trust. Mr. Parton’s specific topic was “Legal Precedents for Water Allocations in Adjudicated Basins.” Craig Parton has served as trial counsel in several groundwater basin adjudications in California. Mr. Parton currently represents the largest group of agricultural interests in the Oxnard/Pleasant Valley area with respect to on-going water allocation issues. He is also representing a collection of 17 water districts and the City of Fresno in litigation recently filed against the federal government in Washington D.C. relating to water supply events in the Central Valley of California.
