February 25, 2016: Melissa Fassett, a member of the firm’s Employment Litigation Department, presented a seminar to the Santa Barbara County Bar Association addressing the legal developments in employment law effective in 2016. The seminar discussed the new laws recently enacted which affect employers and also discussed recent developments in case law which alter the employment relationship. These issues included the new minimum wage, development in overtime law, new powers of enforcement for the Labor Commissioner, new anti-discrimination laws, new anti-retaliation and whistleblower laws, changes affecting FEHA litigation, and changes to mandatory leaves of absence and benefits to which employees are entitled.
