Craig Parton and Tim Metzinger, in conjunction with counsel in Washington D.C., have filed a lawsuit against the federal government seeking $350 million in damages on behalf of seventeen water agencies in the San Joaquin Valley and the City of Fresno. The filing of the action in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington D.C. caught the eye of numerous media outlets in the Central Valley. As the Fresno Bee put it, the case involves “a blockbuster claim for $350 million against the federal government for not delivering water to Friant Division contractors in the drought year of 2014.” The action is pending and still awaiting a response from the federal government.
